Change the world

The countdown to the final Grade 12 NSC/IEB exams has begun, after two years of COVID-19 disruptions.

We’d like to help you with your preparations for these examinations. Your mental and physical wellness during this time is important, especially if you feel overwhelmed. Reach out to those closest to you, so that they can assist you in finding resources to help you cope.

  1. Rest & Relax

Make time in your schedule to rest and unwind. Although your mind and body are amazing, both need downtime. Make sure you get enough sleep, try to eat nutritious meals, drink plenty of water, venture outside, chat to your friends/family and try to stay active.

  1. Get organised

Planning will help you immensely. Write down the relevant info for each exam (date/time/venue) and add your study plan for each subject. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to get everything done. Knowing what needs to be done and by when will help you to stress less.

  1. Be realistic

Do as much as you can, using the resources you have, in the time you have allocated for each subject. Don’t acquire additional resources/programmes or undertake additional tutoring if these are not going to help you. Taking on too much will overwhelm you and that is exactly what you should avoid.

  1. You are capable

You have completed tons of exams and tests in the past. This is no different and should not be treated as such. You can do this. Have faith in yourself and your capabilities. This is a mere chapter in your glorious book of life and whatever happens, you can overcome any obstacle.

Parents, guardians, teachers, counsellors, family, and friends are all there for you. You aren’t alone, and it’s essential that you get support when you need it most. SADAG is Africa’s largest mental health support and advocacy group, where you can find mental health information, advice, and practical tips to help you confidently navigate your exams.

Nelson Mandela University wishes you well for your final exams and we look forward to seeing you next year.
